Illustration is my primary focus and the service that I am extremely passionate about. I've been doing freelance illustration for over a decade now and each and every project brings something new to the table and a lot of enjoyment.
How Each Illustration Project Works
Firstly, each and every freelance illustration project is different. These are just the general steps in my process. If you have any questions please just let me know in your email inquiry.
1. Discovery & Research
During this initial phase of the project we spend time discussing the project and getting a good idea of what we are trying to accomplish and how.
Outcome: A clear and defined understanding of the project and how we are going to tackle it together.
You Provide: Any and all branding materials, illustration styles, colors, and any other important information of limitations.
This phase is pretty self explanatory. I take the information that I have learned from and start to work on creating sketches that will then be used later in the final process.
Outcome: You’ll receive 1-2 rounds of sketches (rough and/or detailed). These sketches may include a few options for you to choose from.
You Provide: Give honest feedback on the sketches, this will allow me to move on to the next phase of the process with a solid direction.
3. Design & Vectorization
This is the longest part of the process. I always start all of my illustration(s) in grayscale developing the tone and feel of them and after you have given the thumbs up, we move on into color (sometimes with a couple of options) and finalize the illustration(s) for delivery. Included in the price is 2 overall revisions to the illustration(s). Outcome: A kick-ass illustration(s)! You Provide: Give clear and precise feedback within a timely fashion.
Projects typically range between 1 week to as long as 3+ months depending on the scope of work. For the the most part, Illustration projects are generally faster.
