Branding work is something that I don't get to do a lot of but I'm hoping to get more of in the future.
How Each Branding Project Works
Firstly, each and every freelance illustration project is different. These are just the general steps in my process. If you have any questions please just let me know in your email inquiry.
1. Discovery & Research
This first phase of the project will primarily be spent digging deeper into your industry(and even those outside of your industry) and looking at what others have done before. This is also when I start to get an idea of what you envision for the brand.
Outcome: Understanding of your Industry; Creation of mood boards to garner feedback and direction for moving forward into the next phase.
You Provide: Honest and in-depth feedback on the mood boards to generate a clear understanding of your vision of the brand.
This phase is pretty self explanatory. I take the information that I have learned from and start to work on creating sketches that will then be used later in the final process. During this phase I will begin to sketch out ideas and you will see anywhere from as little as 10 sketches ideas to as much as 50.
Outcome: You’ll receive 10-50 sketches to look over a review.
You Provide: Give honest feedback on the sketches that will allow me to move on to the next phase of the process with solid direction.
3. Design & Vectorization
This is the final and largest phase of the process. This is where I take everything I have learned and the feedback from the sketches and mood boards to create the possibly solutions.
Outcome: Between 1-3 rounds of design, with a final solution at the end. All files delivered upon final payment.
You Provide: Give clear and precise feedback within a timely fashion.
Projects typically range between 1 month to as long as 3 months depending on the scope of work. For the the most part, Illustration projects are generally faster, but I require a minimum of 1 month for branding projects, this allows ample time for planning and discovery.
